The kiosk in Praça dos Restauradores, known as ‘Quiosque A.b.e.p.’, has a history linked to the company A.b.e.p.-Agência de Bilhetes para Espetáculos Públicos Lda, founded in 1950.

Initially, the kiosk was exclusively a ticket sales point for shows, but over time, it evolved into a place for socialising and leisure, offering tickets for tourist activities, hop-on hop-off buses and, as an official partner of Lisbon tourism, Lisboa Card, public transport tickets and some city merchandising.

Kiosks in Lisbon, in general, have a long history, emerging as a form of beautification and public utility, and quickly became meeting points for artists, intellectuals and students, as well as the general population.

The kiosk in Praça dos Restauradores, in particular, being one of the oldest in Lisbon, has become an icon of the city, representing the tradition of kiosks and their importance in Lisbon’s social life.
